Dublin bus route map found! (And lots of other nice maps.)
Yes, I eventually found it!
A map of the all the DublinBus routes!
It is available at MkMap.
That’s probably the most useful site I’ve found in the last month!
(As Dublin Bus seems to be completely unable to provide either adequate time tables, nor (and that’s five times worse) any sufficient bus route maps.)
Actually, I’m not sure whether this next link is not even better: It provides all the available means of transport for your journey through Dublin, when you just type in where you are and where you’d like to go. It includes all the bus routes, provides the route to the next bus stop and links to the bus time tables (even if still nobody can read them ;-)
That’s at JustRoutes.
Oh, and when I was just about to have a look at the possibilities of online mapping systems, I found even some more funny things here:
The next main interesting thing is Wikimapia, where you got infos related to the single buildings. You can describe and link to Wikipedia or outside and you can do comments. This seems to be very useful.
Panoramia looks also interesting. You can upload pictures and place them right onto the map where you’ve taken them.
The map of GeoNames is able to show spots which got articles in Wikipedia. It’s less data in it, but the data available has always a high standard and lots of significant information (not as much trash as in Wikimapia). And another Gimmick: it’s available also in other languages than in English :-)
Then you can find a map of sights in Ireland at Look Around Ireland and at Google Sight Seeing. Recently I also found Schmap for Dublin sights.
MapEire is providing a map in which you can also type in stuff. You can tag your article then, which makes it easy to find pubs or so later on. But there seem to be a lot of trash in there as well and the information provided is mainly very short.
A very special map from Des exists, where he sites all the vegetarian (and vegan) serving restaurants in Ireland *lol*. It also links to many Sushi bars, Lebanese restaurants etc. and to places where you can buy healthy food. I might check some of that ;-)
There’s another toy with Dart Maps, which maps each single DART train running around. (Which is sweet to watch, but not of any particular use, I think ;-)
(There seem to be also a bit more Mashups to discover from the Google Maps Mania guys and in the Google Watch Blog. Have a look.)
Also now I’m looking a bit forward to the Google Maps Street View project. (Which means: getting 360degree sights every 20m of every single street in a city. Wow.) . Their cars have been seen in Mailand, Paris and Rome recently, so I guess it’s just a matter of time until they are visiting us here ;-)
Just registered at GeoUrl. You can show all the websites around you. But it’s not much going on in Dublin :-/
Just the next blogs are on the Isle of Man and in Cork! That’s poor…
Ok, understood now, that I can place also my geodata in my description page (as all the other sites in this blog are used from three differnt minds in three different places). Then you can find me an my neighbours via
. So it shows up some more sites in my vicinity.
Ok, the Google Street View Cars visited Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main first (look e.g. at the articles (in German) at the Bayerischer Rundfunk, Golem or ARD from the last four weeks. Maybe these Cities are international a bit more important than Dublin ;-)
Anyway, they’ll be in Dublin soon, I guess.
