NY Marathon

Today was the famous New York Marathon. And Peter and Albert have had a look at it. (Albert was very enthusiastic as it was his first marathon to watch. Actually for me as well, but I was more relaxed ;-)

And because of the winter time change I messed up the time and to my favour we were then at the course and two minutes later the first male runner went through on the 5th Avenue where we waited (around 35km into the run).
We later went a couple of streets south looking at the runners. And finally Oran, my collegue from work, ran along there around an 80 or 90min behind the fastest. Wow, that’s still impressively fast. He planned a time of around 3h40′ for the 42km.

Here you are with some images of the race:

Albert was very eager to see the runners coming along. (Actually, Albert insisted on being carried in the kangaroo pocket of my backpack rather than sitting on the street and getting his feet dirty. And he found the spot so convenient (especially the being carried around while having a such a good sight) that he did not even think of getting out there for a walk. He’s sometimes a difficult dinosaur to deal with…)

One of the fastest female runners just passed us here.

Albert parks

Albert wanted to take a souvenir from the day as well. Not sure why he picked that piece. He said he wants to place it in our bathroom because people are parking there for too long…

All in all interesting to watch parts of such a marathon. The crowds were in a really good mood, cheering and applauding lots. And Albert will probably tell me for the whole next week how super-excited he was.
